the bio

Sherry O’Keefe:

I am the author of Making Good Use of August, Cracking Geodes Open and The Peppermint Bottle. I’ve lived (so far) within the borders of Montana since being born into a family with story-telling ways.

I am not good at small talk and tend to converse more than make statements.I am an assistant poetry editor for Fifth Wednesday Journal and co-editor with Rose Hunter at YB Journal and with Michele Lesko at IthacaLit.

Like Clark Kent, I have day jobs and hide behind my glasses. I like to sneak out and take photos (and share them at my photo blog: When Salt Spills.) I like to camp and fish and drive the back roads in Montana. I love my two kids dearly.

At night I write with two dogs at my feet and a cell phone that keeps me in a one click touch with my kids and friends. On my rickety kitchen table is an old enamel blue bowl of rocks from friends who have traveled outside the borders and have brought me rocks as proof that the world does not end at the border crossing.

And I like when words and paper come together to create a collage. At Whitewash and Co. you can find the pendants and collages I/we (read the story at the website) are making.
